We asked the hair care experts who teach salon professionals at the world’s premier 5-star resorts for their most commonly asked hair care / hair oil tips using our versatile Body Oil.

We’ve all got our routines for keeping our skin protected, nourished, and hydrated, but what about our hair? It can be all too easy to just cover our hair, pin it up, or pull it back so we don’t have to deal with it.   • Oil weighs your hair down. FALSE. We recommend you use the amount of oil that works for YOUR hair. When It comes to hair oil, start with a pea-sized amount on your palm, and go for what works for YOU.

At-Home Oil Treatment: Massage Into Roots

From haircare practices—like blow drying or washing your hair too often—to everyday activities like hiking, kayaking, and swimming can leave hair feeling dry and malnourished. Add Body Oil as an oil treatment to replenish and nourish your roots.

  • Heat oil and massage into your freshly dried hair and scalp, leaving it in for 5-10 minutes.
  • To rinse, apply shampoo and work through the hair before wetting and rinsing.

Q: Why should I get an oil treatment for my hair? Are there benefits?
A: There are plenty of benefits to receiving an oil treatment for your hair. The plant oils used in a hot oil treatment have properties that are known to help protect and moisturize your hair, increased hair strength, reduced dryness of both the scalp and hair, help with dandruff relief, and more.

Q: How much oil do I need to use?
A: The amount you use is related to the type of hair you have. Since everyone is different, you should start with a small amount and work up until you find the amount that is perfect for you and your hair length and type.

Q: Should I apply oil to my hair when it is wet or dry?
A: There are a few factors that come into play here that may make it difficult to provide a definitive answer without an in-person consultation. People with finer hair types typically prefer to apply a smaller amount and they have best results applying to wet hair or applying a very light layer to dry hair. People with coarse hair can often benefit from a thicker application of oil and have great results applying to either wet or dry hair. We strongly encourage using our multipurpose Body Oil with dry hair, as the shine factor is higher and you will get better nutrient absorption, less frizz, and increased UV and pollution protection.
Q: How often should I get a hot oil hair treatment? 
A: One hot oil treatment for your hair per week is more than sufficient to keep your hair looking and feeling its best. If you’re rehabilitating your hair from over-dying, sun damage, or heat damage, most professionals would recommend one treatment every three to four days until your hair has repaired.
